Andy (DJ A-Dog)

in-loving-memory-dj-a-dog-andyDJ A-DOG, aka Andy, 36, was a master turntablist and party rocker from Burlington, VT. He was a fixture in the underground Hip-Hop/DJ culture for more than 10 years. Andy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in December 2012. He needed a bone marrow transplant for a cure. Because of Andy’s unique ethnicity make-up, Filipino/African American, he faced the challenges of finding a perfect match. Andy’s family and friends hosted marrow registration drives to increase awareness about the need for more mixed race donors to become part of the registry and help increasing the chances of matches for patients from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Andy received bone marrow transplant but due to severe complications he passed away December 2013. Learn more about Andy and Andy’s journey, here and here.
