Benjamin

patients-benjaminJust moments after Benjamin was born he was diagnosed with acute liver failure. At two weeks of age, Benjamin was officially diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH, a rare immune system disorder where specialized inflammatory cells, T-cells and NK-cells, do not work properly and become over stimulated. Instead of destroying infected or damaged cells as they should, they begin to damage healthy tissues and organs including the liver, bone marrow, and the central nervous system.

Baby Benjamin remains in the NICU and has started treatment to suppress his immune system. This little trooper continues to fight every day and remains strong, however. A bone marrow (stem cell) transplant is required for cure.

Benjamin is half Chinese (Taiwanese) and Caucasian. His best chance of finding a match would be from an individual who is also Chinese, Asian, Caucasian mixed race. By joining the registry, you could save a life, possibly even Benjamin’s. Please register today! Cure Benjamin on Facebook
