Eduardo

First grader, Eduardo (6), was first diagnosed with lymphoma on his head when he was just 3 years old. After numerous rounds of chemotherapy treatments Eduardo reached remission. After three years of being “in the clear”, the Gjijalva family received disheartening news that Eduardo relapsed and diagnosed with leukemia. A bone marrow transplant was his best chance at a cure. His family and only sibling were not a match and searched tirelessly for an unrelated donor. Because of Eduardo’s background, Hispanic/Latino ethnicity, he needed to find a perfect match from a donor of Hispanic/Latino ancestry. Eduardo passed away after a long battle with his sickness.
