My name is Rushi and I am 6 years old. I’m suffering from Beta Thalassemia Major a blood disorder that can only be cured by a bone marrow transplant. I’ve gone through blood transfusions every month since the day I was born. That is 72 transfusions. My older sister died of the same disease 5 years ago, when I was just 1. It has been very hard on my family.
My doctors said before I can get better, I would need to find a matching bone marrow donor. Unfortunately, no one from my family is my donor match. Since ethnicity plays a crucial role when finding a matching donor, I’m more likely to find a match from an Asian/South Asian donor. Asian/South Asians only make up 6% of the national Be The Match Registry. Please register today to help patients like me http://join.bethematch.org/CureRushi
