Shahreen

Shahreen (Rony, to her friends and family), a mother of two, was an active member of her community and was known to bring smiles to faces.

At the forefront of redevelopment, she was active in helping local businesses grow, neighborhood cleanups and encouraging community development.

Shahreen was also passionate about preserving her cultural identity, and has imparted these values to her children, who are similarly active in cultural & charitable organizations fostering community and furthering the greater good.

In March, 2017, Shahreen was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a fast-growing form of cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Shahreen was searching for a blood stem cell donor and found a perfect match. However, the doctors thought it would be best that Shahreen receive a transplant as soon as she went into remission. During this waiting period she got a tooth infection, and other infections formed which she was unable to recover from. Shahreen passed away on March 28, 2018. This beautiful soul will be forever missed by her loved ones and her community.
