My daughter Vartika (Vicky) was born on December 15th, 2017. A few days after her birth, Vicky was diagnosed as suffering from a rare genetic disorder Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID). This means that she has a very weak immune system. Vicky needs a bone marrow transplant urgently, ideally by mid-March, 2018. By registering as a blood stem cell donor, you can not only help Vicky but also other people suffering from life-threatening disorders such as Blood cancer, several genetic and immune system disorders. Vicky is of South Asian descent and her donors will most likely be South Asian. Vicky found a matching donor and had a bone marrow transplant in March 2018. She is currently home an doing well.
